He then moved to Mumbai for 5 years after college for work and during this time, he attended Bandra School of Art in 1980 and trained under Akshay Kumar Jha from 1981 to 82.
In 1983 he founded and established “Giliyal Industries” in Bangalore where he has successfully headed and run a Blowers and Blower Systems manufacturing factory for over 40 years now.

Since 2005, his paintings have been used on the covers of literature publications by Smt. Leela Mannala, a noted Kannada writer and novelist.
Jayaram’s work can be found in the permanent collection at Dr. Shivaram Karanth Art Gallery, Puttur and for sale at Chitrakala Parishat, Bangalore. His paintings are in private collections in India and abroad.
Art style

He started his art career with realistic and hyper-realistic portraits, landscapes and still life. After his formal training in painting (BFA, MVA), he began experimenting with abstraction taking inspiration from his experience as well as his travels.
His obsession with colour and balance is reflected in his works of abstraction, bringing small and large canvases to life with its many stories and life-like rhythm.
More recently, Bhat has consciously departed from his realistic landscape and portraiture works to move into intense abstraction of the land and water that find him in his everyday life and during his travels.
He composes his canvases with uninhibited freedom letting the elements interact within themselves in the pictorial plane, creating balances, imbalances, breathing spaces and a burgeoning of possibilities for viewer involvement and interpretation.
His paintings have been exhibited in several successful solo shows and group shows in Bangalore, Mangalore, Mumbai, Dubai including at the prestigious Jehangir Art Gallery and Nehru Art Centre in Mumbai and Chitrakala Parishat in Bangalore.
